NEW HAVEN
+ February 04, 2019
The year 2019 began with a tough farewell to beloved Mid-West and an exciting new chapter calling one of the early planned cities of the USA – New Haven home. Deservedly praised, the compelling diagram of a large square divided into nine squares with a tenth square going off at a diagonal is clear and recognizable at a first glance. Just in a month, I am pouring my heart out through these pictures, truly fortunate to be able to surround myself with these masterpieces besides this exciting job I have with Pickard Chilton. From neo-gothic Harkness tower to modernist and poetic mystic of Kahn, there is no hardline exist between the building and the city. There is no distinction between design and redesign. This town is a happy marriage of classical and contemporary that offers well-deserved vibrancy to its rich history and a formidable collection of public art. Honesty and truth are fundamental to these buildings, which one would expect from the greatest like Kahn, Sarrienen, Rudolph, Bunshaft, and Breuer. The majority of the building moves are deliberate, fundamental, inviting, and humanly scaled that do not overwhelm the streetscape. The colors are subdued, the atmosphere is quiet, and the soft light often filtering through the trees adds value to these pictures and make them surreal. It’s the atmosphere I love. If you are an architecture freak (as I am), and interested in exploring graceful and ornamental architecture with its own regional flavor, consider visiting this place and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
